Photo etching is performed mainly on brass and sometime stainless steel.
Contrary to stamping, it is not using a press and tooling to engrave material but a chemical solution that will eat and engrave the material.
We use photo etching essentially to achieve more detailed engraving that stamping could not perform or on very thin material, less than a millimeter thick, ( like bookmark and staple ) which would be too thin to stamp.
It also used to make large item, like sign and door plaque that would too large to stamp or inject.
Photo etching creates recess area usually bellow 0.2 mm, suitable only for soft enamel, whereas hard enamel cannot be applied.
