Zamac, also called zinc alloy, the metal alloy used for injection process.
The process is mostly similar to plastic injection.
Using an injection press of 80t minimum, liquid alloy ( melted at 400e Celsius ) is injected into a two way ( opening in the midle ) tooling.
Zamac has been more commonly used recently as the price of brass as increased a lot.
Zamac offer many advantage:
– Produce item that would be too big or too thick to stamp.
– Especially recommended to make high and very detailed relief.
– It is also widely used to make item with cut out, open area inside the design, and item with assembly like revolving and spin keychain, multilevel item like pin on pin…
– Finally, it is also perfect to make item in full convex or oblong shape like police badge.
Zamac injection is suitable for any color process, soft and hard enamel, but also other process with deep recess requirement to insert a doming sticker for instance.
